Aqaba, March 20 (Petra) – Chairman of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Nayef Fayez met with Minister of Labor Khaled Bakkar and Chairman of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) Mohammad Thneibat on Wednesday to discuss mechanisms for enhancing cooperation in vocational and technical training to equip youth with skills aligned with economic sector demands.

Bakkar underscored that investing in human capital is central to economic modernization, emphasizing that the Ministry's vision for vocational training development relies on public-private partnerships, with the government acting as a regulator and facilitator while the private sector provides training opportunities tailored to labor market needs. He noted that defining the investment identity of each region is essential for shaping training policies that support key industries and ensure a skilled workforce for ongoing and future projects.

Fayez highlighted the ASEZA’s commitment to integrating national talent into investment projects, positioning Aqaba as a regional hub for skills development and economic advancement. He stressed that collaboration with the private sector is crucial to sustaining training programs that lead to employment, fostering a workforce equipped to meet labor market requirements.

Thneibat emphasized the industrial sector’s role in workforce development, noting that JPMC, in coordination with the ASEZA and the Labor Ministry, is implementing specialized training programs to align with industry advancements. He added that the manufacturing sector plays a significant role in equipping youth with the technical and technological expertise needed for workforce integration.
