The Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) bagged the Fujairah International Award for Best Sustainable Mining Practices (Transportation and Extraction), which is organized by the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation in the UAE.

The announcement came during the launch of the 9th Fujairah International Mining Forum and the accompanying exhibition, which kicked off Tuesday.

The award is an "important" step to enhance Arab innovation, and reflects the concerted efforts to achieve the goals of sustainable development and its economic, social and environmental foundations.

In a statement, JPMC Chairman, Dr. Mohammad Thneibat, said the company's achievement reflects its efforts to achieve "excellence" and enhance "entrepreneurship" in all its activities, primarily product quality, management, innovation, and outcomes.

Thneibat noted the company has made "remarkable" strides in recent years in the field of mining and fertilizer manufacturing by increasing its ability to raise production quantities within the "highest" quality standards and increase sales in local and global markets.

Furthermore, he referred to JPMC's steps to add supporting production industries and work to establish transformation industries, within "well-studied and effective" administrative and technical procedures, which helped the company rank among the "largest" global companies.

Thneibat stressed that the award is added to the company's record of local, Arab and international prizes, which reflects its "advanced" position, and its "great" efforts to achieve "excellence" in all fields, reiterating the company's keenness to continue its efforts in adopting and enhancing the culture of excellence, entrepreneurship and creativity.

The award team received over 65 applications from various entities and companies, and 200 others from individuals, while 30 successful requests from 13 countries were nominated for the price.
